Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal to battle it out for 23-year-old Spanish talent

Premier League giants are already circling Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, after an impressive season in Segunda. His saves have been a key part of their promotion back to La Liga this year, and he has earned himself a spot in the Spain Olympic team for Paris 2024 this summer.

Garcia, 23, won the number one job this season ahead of Fernando Pacheco, who was signed to occupy it. He is also expected to be number one for the Spain side at the Paris Olympics. Gerard Romero of Jijantes (via MD) is reporting that Arsenal are interested in Garcia, while Diario AS assure that London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on signing Garcia.

Should either of them want to do so, Espanyol will require something around his release clause of €25m. He recently signed a new deal with Los Pericos until 2028, meaning they have little reason to accept a reduced fee. Real Madrid were also thought to hold an interest at one stage, but it does not seem they will move for him.
