The Hurt Locker actor welcomed Ava with ex Sonni Pacheco in March 2013 when he was 42. Renner has since said in interviews that becoming a dad later on in life is “the best thing” he’s ever done.

“The only thing I think about when I’m not with my baby is, 'How do I get to my baby?'” he told Capitol File magazine in 2014. ”I’m very miserable when I don’t see her. I really love being a father.”

After suffering a near-fatal snowmobile accident in 2023, Renner shared his gratitude for his daughter's help in an Instagram post in January on the anniversary of the accident.

Describing his daughter as "reason number one" for his recovery, the proud dad shared how lucky he was to receive Ava's help.

"I asked her to 'wait for me' when I first saw her January 14 as I arrived home," Renner said. "As I got better, she got better, less afraid. There is simply no better motivator to recover than to heal your family and friends."

"With gratitude always, thank you all for your love and support this last full year," he added. "I needed every ounce of goodwill and prayer 🙏🏼."
