NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Fairfield University assistant coach Patrick Sellers has been hired as the head men's basketball coach at Central Connecticut, his alma mater. Sellers returns to school where he was a team captain as a player in 1991 and began his coaching career as an assistant in 1999, helping the Blue Devils to NCAA Tournament bids in 2000 and 2002. Sellers was on Jim Calhoun's staff at UConn from 2004-10 and has also coached at Fairleigh Dickinson, DePaul, Creighton, Hofstra and UMass before spending the last two seasons at Fairfield.
AMES, Iowa (AP) Izaiah Brockington has transferred from Penn State to Iowa State and will have two years of eligibility, Cyclones coach T.J. Otzelberger announced Thursday. Brockington spent the last three seasons at Penn State after playing his freshman year at St. Bonaventure. The 6-foot-4 guard from Philadelphia started 24 of 25 games last season and was the Nittany Lions' second-leading scorer with 12.6 points per game.
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Former Arkansas guard Desi Sills is heading to Southeastern Conference rival Auburn. Tigers coach Bruce Pearl said Wednesday Sills has signed an athletics financial aid agreement. Sills, who played three seasons with the Razorbacks, has two years of eligibility remaining.
WACO, Texas (AP) National champion Baylor is adding another transfer guard. Coach Scott Drew said Tuesday night that Dale Bonner has signed with the Bears after leading Division II Fairmont State in scoring, assists and steals in each of his past two seasons at the school in West Virginia. The Bears last week added transfer guard James Akinjo, the leading scorer for Arizona last season.
