Strong Winds Send Wicker Sofa Flying in Ankara, Turkey

A sofa was spotted flying through the sky in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Wednesday, May 17, as strong winds blew through the city, local officials warned.

Footage captured and posted to Twitter by Onur Kalmaz shows the sofa fly through the air from a high-rise building on Wednesday afternoon, while Kalmaz was at work.

“The couch was made from wicker and landed in someone’s garden. Nobody was injured,” Kalmaz told Storyful. “It was just really strange to see,” he added.

On Wednesday evening, Mayor of Ankara Mansur Yavas said storm damage including snapped trees was reported in the city. Credit: Onur Kalmaz via Storyful
