I Wear a 38DD Bra, and I Finally Found a Strapless Style That’s Actually Supportive and Comfortable

Summer dressing is all fun and games until I remember that as a 38 DD, 75 percent of the clothes I want to wear require a strapless bra. And as anyone who wears upwards of a C cup will tell you, finding a supportive strapless bra is almost literally impossible. I was actually trying to make peace with the idea that this product simply does not exist for big-chested women when my lingering hope was rewarded by Chantelle’s Norah Comfort Strapless Convertible Bra.

This is a soft and flexible, foam-like convertible bra from the intimates brand Brie Larson made viral. It can be worn as a regular bra with the straps attached or you can unhook them for a strapless look. For the latter purpose it, like many strapless bras, has silicone lining the inside edges to keep it in place.

Its first trial was under an off-the-shoulder dress I was going to wear to an opera. It felt comfortable and sturdy from the offset, but I have been burned before so I packed the straps in my purse in case things took a turn.

To my complete shock and amazement, I didn’t need the straps that night — and I haven’t needed them since, either. When I wear the Norah, my boobs remain upright, in place, and perky. Some of the Norah’s other winning qualities made me realize I didn’t know what I was missing out on this whole time — I didn’t spend the evening shoving my hands down my dress to adjust and pull up the bra, and when I took it off at the end of the night, the silicone lining hadn’t created blisters or broken skin. When I’m wearing Chantelle’s Norah Bra, I forget that the bra is strapless and that is the best thing I can say about this type of undergarment.
