Gabby Douglas' comeback is around the corner.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist is making her anticipated return to competitive gymnastics at the 2024 American Classic, marking her first competition since the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Douglas, who is the 2012 Olympic all-around champion and the 2015 World all-around silver medalist, told NBC News in February that the reason she took "a step back" was to "work on [her] mental state."

In July 2023, Douglas hinted on Instagram that she had resumed gymnastics training and was aiming to compete in the Paris Olympics. “I did a lot of journaling, reflecting, soul searching and found myself back where it all began,” she wrote in part alongside a photo of herself over a balance beam.

Douglas' return to the sport was supposed to happen at the 2023 Winter Cup in February; however, she tested positive for COVID-19 and had to withdraw from the event. "I was so excited to get back out on the competition floor," she wrote on Instagram while announcing the news.

Though Douglas was "crushed" at the setback, she assured fans that she'd "see [them] soon" in her caption. Now, the time has finally come when the American Classic kicks off on April 27.
