Tampa Bay Lightning Recall Matt Tomkins From Syracuse
The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltender Matt Tomkins from the Syracuse Crunch, the team announced Thursday.
Tomkins, a native of Edmonton, Alta., has spent the entire season with the Crunch, posting a record of 6-8-4 to go along with a 2.87 GAA and a .900 SP in 17 appearances.
Drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Tomkins has made six career NHL appearances (all with the Lightning), going 3-2-1 while posting a 3.33 GAA and a .892 SP.
With Jonas Johansson dealing with a lower-body injury and Andrei Vasilevskiy a game-time decision due to illness, it remains unknown if Tomkins will take the ice Thursday as the Lightning take on the Los Angeles Kings.
