Stars Goaltender to Miss Blues Game With Flu
It's that time of year where sickness seemingly travels around everywhere, and the bug has hit at least one Dallas Stars player.
Goaltender Casey DeSmith is sitting out Saturday night's game against the St. Louis Blues with flu-like symptoms, meaning Jake Oettinger will need someone else to back him up between the pipes.
The Stars recalled Magnus Hellberg, the starter for the Texas Stars acquired in the offseason to shore up the goaltending position at the AHL level. Hellberg has NHL starting experience as recently as last year with the Pittsburgh Penguins, meaning he could fill in for Dallas if absolutely necessary.

The 6-foot-6 goaltender posted one win in three appearances last season for the Penguins, posting a .922 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average.
This season, Hellberg has a 9-3-1 record for Texas with a 3.08 GAA and .904 save percentage.
The Stars are in the midst of a homestand that continues through Dec. 20, so Hellberg could easily stay in the fold for Dallas without having to worry about traveling anywhere with the team if DeSmith takes longer to recover from his sickness.
