South Carolina football offers productive hometown pass-rushing prospect

Irmo Yellow Jackets defensive lineman Jaiden Bryant (24) rushes the QB during their game at Dutch Fork High School, 11/8/24.

Jaiden Bryant was one of the top pass rushers in the Midlands this year.

On Saturday, the Irmo Class of 2027 prospect picked up an offer from Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks. Defensive ends coach Sterling Lucas gave Bryant the news of the offer on an unofficial visit to USC.

Beamer, receivers coach Mike Furrey and new offensive coordinator Mike Shula also visited Irmo on Friday.

The Gamecocks join Florida State, Virginia Tech and Miami (Ohio) to offer the 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end.

“This offer means a lot. I’ve been on this for a long time. I always wanted to be a Gamecock. Now, I have the opportunity to be one.”

The Gamecocks have a few prospects from Irmo that they are interested in. WR Donovan Murph signed with South Carolina earlier this month. Offensive lineman Nate Carson also has a USC offer and quarterback AJ Brand was recruited by Shane Beamer all the way up until he signed with Virginia Tech.

Bryant is the second area member from the Class of 2027 to pick up an offer from USC this week. Ridge View WR Khristian Jackson was offered on Tuesday.

Bryant had a big sophomore season in helping the Yellow Jackets to an appearance in the Class 5A Division II championship game. It was Irmo’s first title appearance since 2006.

For the season, Bryant had 86 tackles (18 for loss), 15.5 sacks, seven pass break-ups and three caused fumbles.
