Sodje urges Yobo inclusion

Former Nigeria international Efe Sodje has called on Stephen Keshi to include Norwich City defender Joseph Yobo in the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup in Brazil. Yobo, who has 95 caps for his country, played a bit-part role during Nigeria's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, starting just one game as Keshi's side went on to win the title in South Africa. However, Sodje believes the World Cup is a much larger stage than the continental showpiece and believes Keshi will need experienced heads such as Yobo in the squad if they are to make an impact in Brazil. "I strongly believe Yobo still has a lot to offer the Eagles," the Macclesfield Town player/manager told the Nigerian Tribune. "Apart from his experience of playing at two World Cups which will be invaluable to the team, Yobo is also playing regularly in one of the toughest leagues in the world. "He is playing against some of the guys he will face in Brazil at the World Cup. You can't buy that in the market. "The FIFA World Cup is a bigger competition than the Nations Cup and it is a stage where you must bring your best to compete. "I strongly think coach Stephen Keshi should also reconsider some of the experienced players playing regularly in their various clubs. He needs a right mixture of experience and youth in Brazil."
