Sky journalist states Ibrahimovic was ‘remarkable’ when handling Conceicao-Calabria incident
Davide Calabria and Sergio Conceicao clashed at the end of AC Milan’s victory against Parma, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a notoriously hot-headed figure, cooled the situation.
Throughout his playing career, Ibrahimovic gained a reputation as a strong character, who would not back down from a challenge. Football, after all, is an intensive game that can lead to emotions flowing over, on and off the pitch.
However, the viewing of a head coach and club captain going against each other is certainly something that still creates a reaction. Following the win, Conceicao ran over to Calabria and seemed to be passionately shouting something at him, and the reasoning for that has been revealed today.
It was certainly the most memorable moment of the game, despite the late comeback, but it was resolved by Ibrahimovic, which is potentially a shock to some.
Ibrahimovic discussed the situation again in his press conference earlier today, and Peppe Di Stefano also gave some insight into what happened when speaking to Sky (via Milan News).
“What we can tell you is that Ibrahimovic was remarkable at intervening in the altercation between Conceicao and Calabria. The Swede wanted to talk to both of them, then invited them to speak in front of the cameras to explain what had happened, subsequently conveying more confidence to the Portuguese coach himself after his recent statements.
“He spoke for half an hour with the AC Milan coach, to reassure him and put more peace of mind into the environment.”
