Poll results: BND readers in southwest IL vote on their interest in the NFL

It does not appear the city of St. Louis will have a National Football League team again any time soon.

The Rams bolted out of town following the 2015 season, back to Los Angeles where they left after the 1994 campaign to come to St. Louis. And NFL fans in the region have felt the void ever since. Or have they?

In the latest Belleville News-Democrat poll, we asked if you still rooted for an NFL team. Here are the results: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, no team/the NFL is dead to me, another team not listed.

Here were the results:

  • No team. The NFL is dead to me: 37%

  • Another team not listed: 27%

  • Kansas City Chiefs: 16%

  • Green Bay Packers: 8%

  • Los Angeles Rams: 5%

  • Indianapolis Colts: 1%

The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.

To be clear, this poll is not scientific. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. It’s all for fun, BND readers.

The next poll will appear on the BND’s website — www.bnd.com — at 5 a.m. Tuesday and will be a vote on St. Louis Cardinals players making the Hall of Fame. Please email poll ideas to gvartanian@bnd.com.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Marcus Cooper brings down then-St. Louis Rams running back Isaiah Pead by his facemask during a game in 2015 when the Rams still called St. Louis home. They moved back to Los Angeles following that season and, along with the Chiefs, were one of the teams listed in the BND’s latest poll on whether you still root for a team in the NFL.
