Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 5-2 win over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey last night after extra time but it appears to have come at some cost as midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has suffered an injury.

Indeed, Los Blancos have confirmed that the 22-year-old is sidelined with a hamstring injury in his left leg via an official statement.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the femoral biceps of his left leg. Pending evolution.”

Expected to be out for three weeks

Building on this, journalist Arancha Rodriguez reports that Camavinga is expected to be out for a period of three weeks, dealing a significant blow to Real Madrid.

It has been a season riddled with injuries for the young Frenchman, who suffered a knee injury a day before the UEFA Super Cup and missed 12 matches for club and country.

Having made his comeback in October, Camavinga was sidelined again in November with a muscle problem, which kept him out of five matches for Real Madrid.

Now, the 22-year-old ace is set to face another three weeks out on the treatment tables. As a result, Camavinga is expected to miss at least six games during that period.

Indeed, the midfielder will be out of this weekend’s La Liga clash against Las Palmas as well as the subsequent league encounters versus Real Valladolid and RCD Espanyol.

Camavinga will also miss Los Merengues’ final two UEFA Champions League group-stage games against RB Salzburg and Brest.

In addition, the midfielder will also be unavailable for the Copa del Rey quarter-final, the draw for which will take place this Monday. His availability for the league game against Atletico Madrid on February 9 remains a doubt as well.
