Official: Atalanta confirm signing of Daniel Maldini with Milan set to receive €7m
Daniel Maldini has, today, joined Atalanta on a permanent move from Monza, and AC Milan will pocket half of the transfer fee due to a clause.
Atalanta have had a keen interest in Maldini’s progression with Monza since joining the club permanently six months ago, and in December, there were suggestions that the club could look to make a move in the January window.
In the past few days, the likelihood of that deal has increased substantially, and now, the move has been made official by La Dea this afternoon.
It has been heavily reported that the Rossoneri would pocket 50% of any move for the youngster, so they will be happy to be given a cash injection from the move. However, if Maldini follows a similar path to Charles De Ketelaere in Bergamo, a feeling of regret could rise quite quickly. Especially with the club looking for another Trequartista in the mercato.
However, the Rossoneri did not act on any reported interest they held, so it may sit as a feeling of what if.
Considering how the club lost out on a fortune from the Champions League, the additional funds will be welcomed with open arms, especially considering the club are looking to be active themselves, even after the addition of Santiago Gimenez.
