No. 1 Star: Corey Perry, Anaheim Ducks

The noted pest broke out of an 18 game goal-less streak at the best possible moment. The Ducks came back from being down 5-3 to the Carolina Hurricanes by scoring two goals in a 1:31. Perry’s tally was the game tying goal with 2:23 left in the third. Anaheim went on to win the in the shootout.

No. 2 Star: Erik Karlsson, Ottawa Senators

Just another three point night for the Sens captain. Karlsson scored to put Ottawa up 2-0 on the San Jose Sharks. After losing the lead, Karlsson helped set up what would be Chris Kelly’s game winning goal with 1:06 to go in the game.

No. 3 Star: Devan Dubnyk, Minnesota Wild

Twice the Toronto Maple Leafs came within a goal of tying the Wild. Going into the third period with Minnesota up 3-2, it was entirely on Dubnyk’s shoulders to stop the Leafs. Toronto out-shot the Wild 17-3 in the final frame alone. In his 300th career start, somehow Dubnyk walked away with the win.

Honorable Mention: The Washington Capitals lost a three goal lead to the Boston Bruins before prevailing in overtime on a Nick Backstrom goal. Justin Williams snapped a nine game goal scoring drought by netting a goal 32 seconds into the game. He followed it up seven minutes later with his second goal. David Pastrnak picked up his 16th goal of the season after tripping on the blueline then breaking away from Dmitry Orlov:

… Also in the beautiful but not enough goals category: Tyler Bozek. Check out his backhand that beats Dubnyk:

… Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen and Lee Stempniak all had two point nights for the Hurricanes. Stefan Noesen was called up by the Ducks today and scored his first NHL goal in the game that night. Ducks rookie Ondrej Kase is 2-for-2 in NHL shootouts.

… Mike Condon made 35 of 37 saves for the Senators in the win. Logan Couture scored his seventh goal in the last 10 games.

Did You Know? Karlsson passed Wade Redden to become the highest scoring defenseman in Senators history.

Dishonorable Mention: Matt Niskanen left the game in the first period after being checked into the boards. He will be evaluated further on Thursday for an upper-body injury. Tom Wilson taught Anton Blidh a tough lesson – don’t admire the puck in the NHL. It’s an ugly hit on the surface but not necessarily illegal.

The Capitals held a closed-door meeting following their three goal collapse to Boston… Rough night for linesman Steve Miller. He had to leave the game with a knee contusion after Roman Polak sent a slapshot directly on to his kneecap:

… Kevin Bieksa didn’t play beyond the 6:05 mark of the third period for Anaheim … The Sharks were credited with 16 giveaways.
