Three weeks ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs revealed their Next Gen third jersey, which happened to be designed in collaboration with one of their biggest fans in Justin Bieber.

The jersey is the first in NHL history to be reversible, featuring a black and blue color combination on one side, and a black and yellow on the other. Reactions from fans seemed to be mixed on social media, but according to the sales numbers, people love them.

In fact, the jersey has reportedly been the highest selling of any NHL jersey since being released three weeks ago.

It goes to show just how much influence celebrities like Bieber have, and why it is important for the NHL to continue collaborations like this to help grow the game even further.

“My love for the Maple Leafs has always been a big part of who I am, and my passion for the team, and the passion of millions of fans, is stitched into this Next Gen sweater,” Bieber said at the time the jersey was unveiled.

“I’m grateful to the Leafs for the chance to team up again to create something so authentic for the team and its fans.”

Aside from being a Leafs megafan, the pop superstar is also good friends with several Toronto players, especially Auston Matthews.

The Leafs have worn the sweater once this season, and will continue to do so sporadically throughout the next two campaigns. The two sides are already discussing another potential project, according to Ad Age, which makes a ton of sense given how successful these collaborations have been.

Whether you personally love or hate this jersey, it is impossible to deny the fact that the Maple Leafs' decision to partner with Bieber has already paid off in a major way, and will continue to do so for some time as these sales don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
