NBA playoffs: Warriors dominate Game 3 as Grizzlies await Ja Morant injury update

SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors basically refused to miss.

After a slow, turnover-plagued start, the Warriors settled in at Chase Center for a 142-112 dominant win in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal series against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Warriors lead 2-1.

Golden State shot 63.1% from the field and 53.1% from 3-point range. In the first half, it was 70.3% and 60% from deep.

Steph Curry had 30 points, and Jordan Poole had another sensational performance, scoring 27 points. Klay Thompson hit four 3-pointers and pulled down nine boards.

Grizzlies star Ja Morant limped off the court during a timeout late in the game with an apparent knee injury and went to the locker room after being looked at on the bench. He did not return and was being evaluated postgame.

After the game, coach Taylor Jenkins said Poole grabbed Morant’s knee and "yanked it." Jenkins said the Grizzlies would discuss the play and decide whether to ask the league to look into it. He added that he was "curious to see what happens."

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said they did not see what preceded the injury.

Before the injury, he was another highlight reel, including hitting a shot from beyond midcourt to beat the halftime buzzer that cut the Warriors’ lead to 64-57.

Morant had 34 points, three rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Kyle Anderson was ejected with 6:19 left in the game after two quick technicals in the blowout. Each game in the series so far has featured an ejection.

The Warriors made a tweak to their starting lineup, adding rookie Jonathan Kuminga. He finished with 18 points, but had four turnovers.

The Grizzlies also had a new starter. Ziaire Williams started in place of Dillon Brooks, who was suspended for one game after his flagrant 2 foul on Gary Payton II in Game 2. Williams hit the first shot of the game, a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired as the Grizzlies started out hot from deep. They finished 16 of 43 for 37.2% from long range.

Game 4 is 10 p.m. ET Monday at Chase Center.
