Naming An Ice Cream Flavour For The Vancouver Canucks

On January 30, voting opened for the Vancouver Canucks and Save-On-Foods’ newest collaboration — naming an ice cream flavour specifically created for the Canucks. Four flavour name options have already been presented: Rinkside Ripple, Pacific Puck, Bar Down Blast, and Hat Trick Swirl. To make things a little more Canucks-centric, here are some other suggestions for a Canucks-themed ice cream flavour.

The Hughes OREO Spin

What better way to double-up on the partnerships than to involve the team’s highest scorer and one of his current sponsors? Earlier this month, it was announced that Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes would be joining Team OREO as a part of the brand’s “Stay Playful for All” program. This flavour could be a swirl of cookies and creme and a blue-tinted vanilla, with the twist paying homage to the many times Hughes has put his opponents in a blender with his swift skating and deft moves.

“Embrace The Hard” (Shell Chocolate)

You know the chocolate quick-dry shell coating that you can buy from the grocery store? Well, this flavour would come with it already spread throughout the ice cream. Think of it like shards of chocolate in your favourite flavour of ice cream, as if the ice cream were embracing the hard (shell chocolate). This flavour takes Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet’s words to heart.

Rocky Road (To The Playoffs)

Vancouver is currently out of a playoff spot, as the Calgary Flames took a 4-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night, allowing them to snatch the Western Conference's second wildcard spot. However, the Flames are only one point ahead of Vancouver, making the jump into playoffs possible. With some tough competition coming after the 4 Nations Faceoff break, it could be a rocky road to the playoffs for the Canucks.

Salted Caramel Statement

Yes, we’re still talking about the incidents of January 18. After a three-game suspension was thrown down on Edmonton Oilers Captain Connor McDavid on January 20, the Oilers released a statement sharing their support for McDavid. In a similar move, this flavour makes a statement to the rest of the NHL through extra salty caramel. Tyler Myers stars in all the advertisements.
