Mets LF Brandon Nimmo hits inside-the-park, over-the-fence HRs in same game
Speed and power are two of the most coveted tools in baseball.
New York Mets left fielder Brandon Nimmo put both on display on Monday with a pair of very different home runs against the Colorado Rockies.
Nimmo leads off game with unconventional home run
He got the scoring started early at Coors Field, leading off the game with a deep drive that skied high to right center before bouncing off the wall away from Rockies outfielders. Nimmo sprinted out of the box and was almost to third base before Carlos Gonzalez managed to reach the ball and beat out the throw for a rare inside-the-park home run.
His hustle and speed added up to one of the fastest home runs on record.

In the top of the seventh with the the Mets leading 3-1, Nimmo left no doubt about his second home run, hitting a 449-foot bomb to the same part of the park that easily cleared the fence to give the Mets a 4-1 lead that led to plenty of love in the dugout.

Second player this season with unique home run tally
Nimmo’s second blast makes him the second player this season to log home runs of both varieties in the same game.

They were also his 11th and 12th home runs this year after entering the season with just six career home runs across 101 games as a part-time player the previous two seasons.
Nimmo ended the day going 4-for-6 with the two home runs and four RBI in a 12-2 Mets win.
