Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly out at least 8 weeks with foot fracture
The problems just keep coming for the beleaguered Toronto Maple Leafs blue line.

The team announced on Monday that Morgan Rielly will miss at least eight weeks with a fractured foot. Rielly sustained the injury in Sunday night’s game against the Florida Panthers. The team will place him on injured reserve and reevaluate the injury in eight weeks time.
In 46 games this season, Rielly has 3 goals and 24 assists while leading the team with over 24 minutes of ice time per game. The 25-year-old revealed last week that he had been playing through pain with an undisclosed injury, and was struggling to replicate a 2018-19 season where he scored 20 goals and recorded 72 points.
It’s a major blow to a blue line that has been leaking goals over the last week. Over a three game losing skid the Leafs have allowed 6 goals per game, culminating in a 8-4 loss to the Panthers in the game where Rielly was injured. The recent run of troubling play followed sustained excellence under new head coach Sheldon Keefe, who has guided the team to a 15-6-2 record since taking over behind the bench.
Earlier today the team announced prospect Rasmus Sandin would be recalled from the AHL to join the Maple Leafs. Along with Rielly, the Maple Leafs are also without defenceman Jake Muzzin for an extended period with a broken foot.
