L.A. Kings hire Todd McLellan as new head coach
The Los Angeles Kings have found their new bench boss.
L.A. announced it has signed Todd McLellan to a multi-year deal as its new head coach, taking over for Willie Desjardins, who was serving in the role on an interim basis.

McLellan most recently served as head coach of the Edmonton Oilers, but was fired 20 games into the 2018-19 season after another disappointing start in Alberta’s capital.
The 51-year-old has a career record of 434-282-90 in 806 regular season games behind the bench, and served as head coach of the San Jose Sharks from 2008-09 through 2014-15 before joining the Oilers.
McLellan was named a finalist for the NHL's Jack Adams Trophy in 2008-09 while with San Jose. He also served as head coach of Team Canada at the 2015 World Hockey Championship, leading his squad to a gold medal.
Los Angeles finished last in the Western Conference in 2018-19 and are hoping McLellan will be the coach to lead them back to Stanley Cup contention.
