Justin Trudeau, Joe Biden make vague bet on result of Stanley Cup Final
The stakes for the Stanley Cup Final were heightened on Monday night as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau extended a wager to United States President Joe Biden.

Trudeau, albeit very vaguely, offered a bet to Biden based on the results of the series between the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning. Biden, without knowing any of the stipulations, hastily agreed to the wager just three minutes later.

Speaking from experience, I can’t say it’s very wise to agree to a bet with no rules, but I am now very intrigued. Early returns indicate Biden made a good decision, with the Lightning cruising to a 5-1 victory in Game 1 of the best-of-seven series. But it would be foolish to write off the scrappy Canadiens, who have pulled off three consecutive upsets to make it to this stage.
Trudeau, a massive Habs supporter, will be watching the Stanley Cup Final very closely. The Prime Minister and other Canadiens fans have been waiting since 1993 to see their team play for the Cup.
While the Canadian government has tried in the past to make Montreal "Canada’s team" without much success, the country may just have to start rooting for the Habs depending on what Trudeau has in mind for this bet.
