Yahoo Sports Helen Mirren Embraced Barbiecore in a Glittering Hot Pink Look in Italy
Maybe it's her role as the narrator in the upcoming Barbie movie serving as inspiration: Helen Mirren took a page from the famous doll's ever-so-on-trend color for the Italian premiere of Paramount+'s Yellowstone prequel, 1923.
At Ora! Fest, an Monopoli-based film and TV festival featuring programming that highlights issues like the environment, sustainability, and social justice, Mirren turned up to the debut of the series—in which she stars alongside Harrison Ford—sporting a hot pink ensemble dusted with pink and silver sequins.
The outfit features flowing, semi-sheer peasant sleeves and a midi length skirt. Mirren complimented the stand out look with a fuchsia knot headband holding back the loose waves of her silver hair, metallic silver sandals, and silver hoop earrings. Never one to shy away from an eye-catching style, the bold shade followed just a few weeks after Mirren hit the Cannes red carpet with vivid blue streaks in her hair.
Mirren, who was also promoting the nonprofit organization Save the Olives, explained how 1923's themes tied into the environmental theme of the festival.
"If we think about the 1900s, it was an extraordinary century, it started with no cars and no electricity and it ended with computers and the Internet. All in just 100 years!" She added, "And I think the 1920s were very interesting: they were the years when the effects of the industrial revolution were beginning to be felt, and they were the years when we and the West began to mistreat nature, in the grip of our stupidity and ignorance. And we’ve gone on like that until today. I hope we have begun to open our eyes."
