Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has spoken out on the reaction of young winger Lamine Yamal to being hauled off during the club’s meeting with Young Boys.

Barcelona, of course, were back in action on the continent last night.

Fresh off a concerning first defeat of the La Liga campaign over the weekend, the Blaugrana turned attentions back towards matters in the Champions League, in a meeting with Swiss heavyweights Young Boys.

And, when all was said and done in Catalunya’s capital, the evening’s hosts emerged on the right side of a 5-0 result.

Amongst Barcelona’s goalscorers on Tuesday were the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Iñigo Martínez.

One key member of Hansi Flick’s squad who failed to add either a goal or assist, however, was the aforementioned Lamine Yamal.

Attacker Lamine was afforded his latest starting berth against Young Boys, but failed to add to his tally of 10 direct goal contributions across all competitions this season.

In the knowledge of as much, the 17-year-old looked frustrated, upon seeing his number flash across the fourth official’s board, indicating his withdrawal 15 minutes from time.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Tuesday’s clash, boss Hansi Flick, in turn, was drawn on Lamine’s reaction.

The German tactician, however, appeared entirely unbothered in his response, explaining:

“Lamine has played a lot of minutes. Seeing the match situation, it was a good time to sub him out. I don’t take into account whether he wants to continue or not.”
