The finalists for almost every major college football award were announced on Monday.

From personal experience, I can tell you it’s hard for voters to narrow things down to three (or five) players for most awards when there are 128 FBS teams. Some deserving candidates are left out every year. That’s just the way it is.

Perhaps the most egregious example this year is Lamar Jackson, who does not appear anywhere on the list of finalists below. Sure, Louisville is having a lackluster year, but the 2016 Heisman winner is having another ridiculous season and deserves any and all accolades.

Anyway, here’s the list of players who are finalists for the National College Football Awards:

The finalists for the Bednarik, Biletnikoff, Groza, Guy, Maxwell, O’Brien, Outland, Thorpe and Walker awards have been invited to the College Football Awards on Dec. 7 in Atlanta. The Heisman Trophy will be handed out in New York two days later.

The show will be hosted by the College Gameday crew of Lee Corso, Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Tom Rinaldi and Maria Taylor.

Winners of the Home Depot Coach of the Year Award, NCFAA Contributions to College Football Award, Disney Spirit Award, William V. Campbell Award and the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will also be recognized during the show.
