Drake curses 76ers, hints at new freestyle after Game 7

Contrary to popular belief, the Drake Curse remains in effect, just not in the way that you’d necessarily imagine.

In case you forgot, Drake has been taking heat after it became apparent that all the teams he supports eventually lose in major games.

The OVO head honcho became self-aware just in time for his beloved Toronto Raptors’ Game 7 on Sunday, wearing a vintage pair of Philadelphia 76ers shorts. It seemingly worked, as Kawhi Leonard hit a heart-stopping buzzer-beater to lift the Raptors into the Eastern Conference Finals.

Drake’s predictably fun night continued on social media, saluting Leonard for the game-winner while labelling 76ers center Joel Embiid as “sadphillyboy” on Instagram.

(It should be noted that the real ‘sadphillyboy’ has approximately 200 followers and isn’t associated with Embiid, as far as we know).

Former Raptors guard and current Los Angeles Clippers standout Lou Williams was impressed by the photo, noting ‘this pic hard’ and Drake couldn’t help but tease his millions of fans in the comment section.

“would do a freestyle just to use this as the art 😂,” Drake wrote back to Williams, sending Raptors fans and A&R’s into a tizzy on this fine Sunday evening.

Whether new music from October’s Very Own is forthcoming remains to be seen, but the Raptors’ opening date against the Milwaukee Bucks is set for Wednesday evening.
