Kawhi Leonard hits crazy buzzer-beater to send Raptors into East Finals

Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard hit the most clutch shot in franchise history, eliminating the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 of their second-round series at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday night.

On the final possession of the game, Leonard rose up for the winner which bounced off the rim, rolled around and eventually fell through the cylinder to give the Raptors a 92-90 victory.

Leonard was simply spectacular. He finished with 41 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and galvanized the Raptors’ offence from start to finish.

The two-time Defensive Player of the Year showed why he’s arguably the NBA’s most well-rounded threat, turning two steals into instant offence. First, he picked off Jimmy Butler in the opening quarter and Joel Embiid in the second before driving down the court for easy buckets on both occasions.

Although Leonard’s game is often defined by doing all of the simple things at an elite level, he showed off a flair for the spectacular as well. Near the end of the second quarter, Leonard drove to the rim, caromed off Tobias Harris, and then spun around Joel Embiid in one fell swoop for an outstanding reverse layup.

Known for his stoic demeanour, Leonard couldn’t help but be all smiles after hitting one of the biggest shots of his career.
