Friends pay tribute to four young men killed when car crashed into house

Tributes have been left at the scene of a car crash which killed four young men, with beer and Pot Noodles among items left at the site.

A note telling the four to “keep partying up there” was also seen at the side of the A4, in Derry Hill near Calne, Wiltshire, as well as photos, letters and football shirts.

It followed a crash in which the four young men, who have yet to be formally identified, died.

The vehicle they were in set on fire after colliding into a house at about 3am on Sunday, police said.

The people in the house called 999 and were evacuated as firefighters tackled the blaze, and nobody inside the building was injured.

One message at the scene is addressed to “Jord, Corey, Matt and Ryan” and sunflowers bearing the letters J, C, M and R were propped against a tree.

Framed pictures of four males, who police said are from the area, were also left.

Inspector James Brain, from the Wiltshire Police, said: “Firstly, I want to offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the four people who so sadly died.

“I know that I speak on behalf of not just everyone at Wiltshire Police, but also the community of Calne, when I say that our thoughts are with them at such a difficult and tragic time.”

A letter at the scene said: “You will forever be in my thoughts and I’ll never forget your smiley faces. You were amazing people to work with and all filled with joy.

“Keep partying up there guys, I’ll always look up and think of you guys.”

An investigation into what happened in the incident, which happened at about 3am on Sunday, is under way.

The mayor of Calne, councillor Robert Merrick, said: “We have lost four young men from Calne in a tragic car accident, at the start of their lives. It is devastating.
