Canadian Olympians celebrated at Vancouver-Montreal derby
Some of Canada’s finest athletes were on display at BC Place on Sunday evening as Vancouver and Montreal kicked off the 2018 MLS season but all eyes were those wearing a certain shade of gold on the sidelines.
Figure-skating icon Patrick Chan and freestyle skier Cassie Sharpe, fresh off podium performances at the Winter Olympics, were paraded in front of a 27,837 crowd in Vancouver, the biggest ever attendance for a home opener since the Whitecaps were formed in 1974
Chan showed no sign of fatigue from his sign-off exploits in PyeongChang, proudly showing off the gold medal he won in the team figure skating event in front of the Southsiders supporters group.
