Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki reveals his go-to karaoke song

So, you’re at an establishment and watching horrible singer after horrible singer step on stage and ruin classic songs.

The energy in the room is low. Somebody needs to grab the microphone and save the night.

Being the selfless, inspiring performer that you are, you decide that the ‘somebody’ everyone is looking for is going to be you. But which song are you going with?

If your name is Ryan Borucki, a young starting pitcher with the Toronto Blue Jays, you’re likely going with ‘I Want It That Way’ by The Backstreet Boys.

“It’s one of those songs that I think everybody enjoys,” the 24-year-old told Nick Ashbourne of Yahoo Sports during spring training. “Even though people might say that they hate The Backstreet Boys, everyone knows every word to that song… And if you get a couple drinks into you, I think everybody starts singing it.”

The interview down in Dunedin, Florida, did get a little more serious at times, though.

“Just constantly attacking them,” Borucki replied to why he hasn’t given up many home runs to hitters in his fledging MLB career. “I got that changeup and my sinker… I just work in the bottom half of the zone and really just come at them with both of those.”

The lefty posted a 4-6 record and 3.87 ERA in 17 games last season after making his debut with the squad in June.

He’ll look to build on what he learned as a rookie in his first full MLB campaign.
