It’s been another brutal year for the New York Knicks and few people know this reality better than rapper, reality TV star and culinary standout, Action Bronson.

Bronson, a proud native of Queens, New York and a die-hard Knicks fan, joined Toronto Raptors forward Serge Ibaka on Bleacher Report’s “How Hungry Are You?” for a meal and some basketball banter, where he ripped into his favourite team.

“Garbage. It is what it is,” Bronson said, when Ibaka asked about how he thinks the Knicks’ season has gone so far.

Sitting at 16-36, it’s hard to argue with Bronson’s bleak assessment.

Bronson was more optimistic about Knicks rookie RJ Barrett, but still couched his praise in preferring Memphis Grizzlies standout Ja Morant. Morant went second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, while Barrett — a Mississauga, ON native — was taken third by the Knicks.

“He looks good. He looks like he can score. He can score. We need some work,” Bronson said of Barrett. “I’m... see, when we start talkin’ about the Knicks, everything goes out the window. I think he has a future, but what I’m sayin’ is, I’m a harsh critic, you know? I want to see more. (Kevin) Knox was a rookie, I need to see more. Three years later, I need to see more.”

“I like Ja Morant! I think he’s a game-changer. Like, an Iverson. He’s just tough. I wanted the Knicks to get him. That’s the guy!”

It wasn’t all bad for Bronson while commiserating with Ibaka, who is coming off a championship. Ibaka fed him a bullfrog, citing Bronson’s love of seafood as his inspiration.

Bronson also offered his take on the 2018-19 Raptors after some prompting by Ibaka.

“Kawhi is that guy. Kawhi is that guy. You played unbelievable. There was a lot of Siakam. Van Cleef. Was that his name, Van Cleef? No, that’s the watch!”

“It took that shot (against) Philly. It was like, you’re leaning until it goes in. Lots of drama. It was fun.”

It’s definitely worth watching the full video, if only to prove that it’s all fun and games between the Raptors and Knicks, even if it’s somewhat unfair to call it a divisional rivalry as they toil near the NBA’s basement.
