Wednesday’s Three Stars: Dupuis powers Pens; Pominville’s OT winner; ‘O Canada’ gaffe

No. 1 Star: Pascal Dupuis, Pittsburgh Penguins

Take your time, Sidney. Pascal's got this. The Penguins winger had a point on all three Pittsburgh goals in their 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. He scored at 9:25 of the second to cut the deficit to 2-1; assisted on Jordan Staal's 22nd of the season to tie the game in the third; and then scored his 17th of the season at 4:10 of the third to give the Pens the lead.

No. 2 Star: Jason Pominville, Buffalo Sabres

Clutch effort from the Sabres' captain, as Pominville's overtime power-play goal gave the Sabres a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, moving within two points of the No. 8 Winnipeg Jets. He also assisted on Thomas Vanek's power-play goal in the second. Here's the game-winner:

No. 3 Star: Cam Ward, Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina goalie made 39 saves in the OT loss, earning his team a point 24 hours after beating the Washington Capitals on the road.

Honorable mention: Staal had a goal and an assist. … Phil Kessel and Carl Gunnarsson had the Leafs goals. … Chad LaRose and Jaroslav Spacek scored for the Canes, while Tyler Myers had the other Sabres goal. … Ryan Miller made 22 saves to win his seventh in nine games. … Brad Thiessen made 22 saves in the Pens' win.

Dishonorable mention: Matt Frattin was a minus-3. … Carolina gave the Sabres seven power plays, including a Bryan Allen hooking call that carried over into the OT. … Jonas Gustavsson made some good saves against the Penguins. This was not one of them:
