Watch Victor Hedman score ridiculous bank-shot goal for Lightning (Video)

Usually it's the home teams that know the boards. That's a big part of home-ice advantage in hockey. On Friday night, Victor Hedman went against that and used the PNC Arena boards to his advantage against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Midway through the second period of a scoreless game, Nate Thompson's wraparound attempt came out to Hedman at the point. The Sweden defenseman then took a slap shot purposely angled wide of the net which banked off the back boards, off Hurricanes netminder Justin Peters and into the goal.

Said Hedman afterward, via the Tampa Tribune: “That’s not the result you are looking for when you do that, but we’ll take it. That was a big goal for us, and I think it gave us a spark.’’

Seriously, you've got to call that next time, Victor.
