Rangers fans turn Bryant Park into hockey party for Game 1 (Video)

It’s been 20 years since the New York Rangers played for the Stanley Cup. In that time, outdoor viewing parties for playoff games have become a mandatory part of the Final. On Wednesday night at Manhattan’s Bryant Park, the Rangers fans joined the party.

That was scene after Benoit Pouliot opened the scoring in the first period on a breakaway, as thousands of fans cheered on the Blueshirts thousands of miles away from their game at the Los Angeles Kings.

It was a viewing party sponsored by the Rangers, who have been pushing a “Rangerstown” motif throughout the playoffs.

Here’s a CBS report on the event:

Awesome atmosphere for fans that have waited two decades for this chance.
