Penn State players choreograph a dance for school’s annual THON event (VIDEO)

No one will ever confuse Penn State football players for solid backup dancers, but they did their best to entertain a massive crowd that embarked on the Penn State campus this weekend for THON, the university’s annual charity fundraising event.

THON is the world’s largest student-run philanthropic effort that incorporates a dance marathon to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer.

This year’s event raised a record 12.3 million and Penn State football did its part to help with the drive. The players choreographed a dance that wasn’t great, but received cheers by those in attendance. It culminated in a "Dirty Dancing" moment where the team hoisted up safety Jordan Lucas (we think).

Coach Bill O’Brien also spoke at the event. Former coach Joe Paterno spoke at the event a handful of times and it was always the highlight of the event. Paterno often said THON was one of his favorite offseason events and his son, Scott, attended this year’s event.

It looks like O'Brien is going to continue the football team's involvement in such a worthwhile cause.
