Braxton Miller feeling so well this week, he’s ‘jolly’

Like ol' Saint Nick coming down the chimney for Christmas, Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller is feeling quite jolly these days.

We don't think Santa Claus ever was taken to the hospital with whiplash-type symptoms, so we're scoring this one in favor of Miller.

Miller has been back at practice this week and it seems that all systems are go following his injury Saturday, when he was slammed to the ground and was knocked out of Saturday's game against Purdue.

"I think he's recovered well and he's doing great," backup quarterback Kenny Guiton told The Lantern, Ohio State's student paper. "He's been up and very jolly."

The Heisman Trophy contender for the 8-0 Buckeyes wasn't feeling so jolly on Saturday when he was taken to the hospital, but he had his teammates on his mind. Miller told the paper that he kept bugging the nurses for an update from the Buckeyes' game.

"[They said] 'I don't know,'" Miller said. "'We're working on you.'"

The happy news for Miller was that Ohio State, led by Guiton, got an overtime win. Miller should return for an interesting game against Penn State this week in a game that features two of the three or four best teams in the Big Ten, neither of which is eligible for the Big Ten title game or a bowl game this season because of NCAA sanctions.

When Miller was being helped off the bench to be carted off, or when he was being taken in an ambulance to a local hospital during the game, his chances of playing this week seemed farfetched. Miller and coach Urban Meyer said nothing has been wrong with him in practice this week except a sore neck.

Miller said he has seen the play that knocked him out of the Purdue game, and he winced along with everyone else.

"Yeah I seen it and, you know, it was just one of them type of hits you close your eyes but it's cool, it came out good," he said. "I'm blessed."
