The Juice: Freddie Freeman has an All-Star worthy night as Braves top Reds

Freddie Freeman made the people who elected him to the National League All-Star team look oh-so-wise on Thursday.
Freeman, who earlier in the day was announced as the winner of the Final Vote campaign with a record 19.7 million votes, powered his Atlanta Braves past the Cincinnati Reds, 6-5.
Freeman had three hits and four RBIs, including two on a first-inning double that was preceded by a big pop from the Atlanta crowd.
''I wasn't expecting it,'' Freeman said, adding the ovation was ''pretty cool" ... ''A load off the shoulders,'' Freeman said. ''They voted for you. You want to go out and deliver for them.''
Tim Hudson got the win for the Braves, besting Mat Latos of the Reds, who gave up nine hits and six runs in four innings, his shortest start of the season.
Diamondbacks comeback to beat Brewers: After getting swept by the surging Los Angeles Dodgers, the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks needed a win Thursday night. Best case, they'd get back some of the ground they lost to the Dodgers. Worst case, the Dodgers would win, the D-backs would lose and they'd be separated by just one game in the NL West standings.
It didn't look good for the D-backs early. They fell three runs behind the visiting Milwaukee Brewers by the third inning. But that's when starter Wade Miley pulled it together and the D-backs benefited from some clutch hitting. Adam Eaton hit a two-out, two-run triple in the fifth to get the D-backs on the board. After a Jason Kubel sac fly tied it in the sixth, it was a 3-3 game.
In the bottom of the eighth, Martin Prado came through with a two-out, two-run single that put the D-backs ahead for good. Final score: D-backs 5, Brewers 3.

Giants 4, Padres 2: Hello, Pablo Sandoval. The struggling Giants slugger hits his first homer since May 21. Then Giants score two in the eighth — Buster Posey and Gregor Blanco with the RBIs — to break a 2-2 tie.
Dodgers 6, Rockies 1: Dodgers win their fifth straight as Chris Capuano earns the W and Mark Ellis gets three hits and four RBIs. Yasiel Puig has two hits, but leaves the game in the eighth inning, still dealing with a hip injury.
Cubs 3, Cardinals 0: Edwin Jackson gets his third straight win for the Cubs, who also get three RBIs from Anthony Rizzo.
Phillies 3, Nats 1: Kyle Kendrick outduels Jordan Zimmermann as the Phillies take three of four from Nats.
Orioles 3, Texas 1: Chris Davis and Brian Roberts homer to push the Orioles past the Rangers, as the two teams split a four-game series.
Red Sox 8, Mariners 7: Daniel Nava hits a go-ahead single in the 10th inning, helping the Red Sox make good on two comeback attempts. They were down 5-1, then 7-4.
White Sox 6, Tigers 3: Sure, Miguel Cabrera homered for the Tigers, but rookie Joshua Phegley had a bigger homer for the White Sox. Phegley's sixth inning grand slam was a difference-maker in this one.
Yankees 8, Royals 4: The Yankees win, but the real story is Derek Jeter's return to the lineup. He singles, scores a run and gets an RBI, but then leaves the game with another injury. New York now braces itself for MRI results.
Rays 4, Twins 3: Matt Moore gets his 13th win for the Rays and afterward learns he's been named to the AL All-Star team. Not a bad day.
Indians 4, Blue Jays 2: Danny Salazar, welcome to the big leagues. The 23-year-old made his Cleveland Indians debut and it was an impressive one — going six innings and giving up only two hits while striking out seven. Plus he beat reigning Cy Young R.A. Dickey. Alas, it was a spot start for Salazar, who is headed back to Triple-A. Danny Salazar, see you soon?
