Edwin Encarnacion hits Bernie Brewer’s slide with long home run at Miller Park (Video)
Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion celebrated his 18th home run of the season in a special way on Monday night, blasting a baseball off Bernie Brewer's giant slide that hangs high above Miller Park's left field. According to our pals at Yahoo! Sports Minute, that's the second time in park history that Milwaukee's mascot has had a nice evening of beer, brats and baseball interrupted by a homer crashing into his chalet. Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips staged a similar aerial assault in 2010.
Though the television broadcast pegged the sixth-inning homer at an estimated 463 feet, Hit Tracker Online measured its true distance at 440 feet, which would make it the second-longest homer that Encarnacion has hit this season. Unfortunately for the Jays, Encarnacion's distance and homer went for naught as the Brewers managed a 7-6 victory on Aramis Ramirez's video replay home run in the seventh inning.
