Cubs fans gather at Wrigley Field to celebrate wild-card victory

The Chicago Cubs picked up their first postseason victory in 12 years on Wednesday, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0 in the NL wild-card game. Now they'll turn their attention to the St. Louis Cardinals, as the over one-century old rivals meet in the playoffs for the first time ever.

That historic series begins on Friday. In the meantime, the party is on in Chicago. Within moments of the final out in Pittsburgh, Cubs fans spilled into the streets of Wrigleyville to celebrate what truly feels like a breakthrough moment in the franchise's history.

And they just kept coming.

And coming.

It was absolutely chaos, we tell ya.

No fanbase in sports is hungrier for a championship than that of the Chicago Cubs. After 107 years of collapses, disappointments, "curses," more disappointments, and zero World Series championship, they are ready to believe and they are ready to party in the streets until no one else is watching or listening.

Reminder: This is only the wild-card game celebration. The Cubs still have to go through the NLDS in St. Louis and the NLCS just to reach the World Series. But this may just be the appetizer as well. If this is the Cubs year, Chicago will never be the same.
