Video: Tiger Woods’ 45-foot eagle putt vaults him into contention at AT&T National

We've seen Tiger Woods make some lengthy eagle putts over his career, but recently, it seems like the long bombs have been few and far between. But on Friday at AT&T National, Woods finally got one to go from deep, rolling in a 45-footer for eagle on the par-5 16th (his sixth hole of the day) to vault into contention.

Woods finished with a couple more birdies to post a nifty 3-under 68 on a day when the field had to grind for a decent score. With the conditions turning major championship-esque and temperatures soaring (the high at Congressional hit 109 degrees at one point), anything under par was considered a good day on the course.

Five shots back of the lead at 2-under going into the weekend, Woods is definitely within striking distance. However, based on how things went after the 36-hole point at the U.S. Open, it's probably time to stop playing prognosticator and let things play out. For the moment, Woods is hanging tough on an incredibly difficult Congressional course, and that's never a bad thing.
