Thursday Fantasy Flier, Week 6: Jacob Tamme, low-cost solution to your TE dilemma

Thursday Fantasy Flier, Week 6: Jacob Tamme, low-cost solution to your TE dilemma

If you're a fan of yards and points and other sources of fantasy goodness, then you'll likely be satisfied by tonight's match-up between Atlanta and New Orleans. These teams currently rank fourth and seventh in total offense, combining for 793.6 yards per game. The Saints have averaged over 300 yards per game through the air, and the Falcons aren't far behind (280.2).

Meanwhile, these two defenses have combined to allow 561.2 passing yards per game, and both rank in the bottom-third of the league. New Orleans has somehow allowed 9.1 yards per attempt, which is ... well, wow. Not good.

So fantasy points should be plentiful on Thursday night. NFL teams have an annoying habit of not following our script, of course, but it's tough to imagine this particular game as a low-wattage dud. With that in mind, we offer a lightly owned Bird for your consideration...

Jacob Tamme, TE, Atlanta Falcons (6 percent owned, $12 in Yahoo daily)

Tamme was sidelined by a concussion in Week 4 (and much of Week 3), but he returned last Sunday with a notable performance. He drew a team-high 10 targets against Washington, snagging eight for 94 yards. It was the second time this season he'd topped 75 receiving yards. He's functioning as a reliable chain-mover for the Falcons, which gives him PPR appeal at the very least.

Julio Jones is expected to play through a hamstring issue on Thursday night, but he may not reach his usual snap-count, so Atlanta's secondary receivers could see a few extra chances against an extremely user-friendly defense. New Orleans has allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends thus far, with four touchdowns included. Tamme is extremely well-priced in our daily game, available near the minimum ($12), and he remains un-owned in over 90 percent of Yahoo's season-long leagues. If you have a need at the position, do what needs doing.
