Terrence Ross opens up about Raptors’ success, playing in Canada, and life in the NBA in revealing Reddit AMA

Terrence Ross' play has been a bright spot for the Toronto Raptors this season. The dynamic swingman has taken a step forward in his second season with highlights that include a scintillating 51-point performance in January and this monster slam on Kenneth Faried.

On Thursday he took to Reddit to answer questions from fans. Here are the top five takeaways from Ross' refreshingly honest AMA:

5) Canadiana

The prevailing thought is that most NBA players aren't thrilled with the prospect of coming to Toronto but that certainly doesn't apply to Ross. He has embraced playing in Canada, taking pride in representing a nation and making note of popular Canadian culture.

He also made sure to point out he was using the proper spelling of 'honour' and 'favourite' and made references to Canadian rock band Rush and cult TV show Trailer Park Boys.

4) Psycho T

Tyler Hansbrough cannot escape his lunatic past. Ross said first-year Raptor Hansbrough was the funniest player in the locker room, but referred to him by his famous nickname Psycho T, which begged this follow-up question:

Good call, Terrence. Psycho T is one of the all-time best nicknames and no one likes the guy who gives himself his own nickname.

3) In the company of legends

Ross had nothing but praise for Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who he cited as his favourite player growing up and admits to being "star struck" when guarding the five-time NBA champion for the first time. He also identified former Raptor Vince Carter as his favourite dunker and pleaded with Toronto fans to "STOP BOOING HIM!" because of what he accomplished for the franchise.

However, his opinions of the all-time greats weren't entirely complimentary. Ross took a shot at future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett when asked, "who do you think is best at setting picks in the NBA?"

2) A laugh (hahahaha) at Andrea Bargnani's expense

1) The Rudy Gay trade

Outside of the All-Star calibre play of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry (who Ross calls the smartest player on the team), the trade is the defining story of the Raptors' season. They're 30-15 since Gay was sent to Sacramento and Ross wasn't surprised by the ensuing success. He says he knew the team would "play like scrappy, fight til the end type basketball" and he isn't shying away from how the move was a positive for him.

No one has benefited from the trade more than Ross, who is averaging 12.7 PPG and shooting 42.7% from three (2.4 makes per game) as a starter. He's grown as a defender and has given Raptor fans reason to be excited for the future.

Sometimes the internet can bring out the worst in people but through his AMA, Ross presented himself as a a high-flying, Canada loving, laid-back, honest, and thoughtful guy. What's not to like?
