Stephen A. Smith wants to apologize to 'all of Canada'

Nobody asked for it, but that's never stopped Stephen A. Smith before. ESPN's chief windbag took Toronto's Games 3-4 comeback to square their NBA series with Cleveland into a brand-new direction of me-first hot-takeout, apologizing to 'all of Canada' for doubting the Raptors:

"I gotta be a man of my word and just apologize to Canada, all Canadians everywhere, because I certainly thought that this was going back to Cleveland 3-1 Cleveland with the Cavs closing this series out on Wednesday night so I wouldn't have to go back to Canada and go through customs and all of that other nonsense . . . "

Smith is actually only one of many whiplashed by this series' turnaround, from two lopsided Cavs wins at home to the Raptors' pair of responses. The shift has been outsized, for sure, but it's actually in keeping with the way things have gone when these two teams have met this season.

The Cavaliers still hold home-court edge and given that history it means something. But at least this looks like a match now, the Raptors taking newfound belief back to Cleveland where the home team has to answer some questions. Then everyone, including poor Stephen A., is on the hook for one more trip through Canada Customs.
