Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes get in on the “Call Me Maybe” video craze

Canadian artist Carly Rae Jepsen's hit song "Call Me Maybe" has been prominently covered by just about everyone in the sports world, including the Harvard baseball team, the US Olympic swim team and even people complaining about the NFL's replacement refs. However, there hasn't been as much attention paid to Jepsen's song by sports figures from her home and native land. That's changed, with Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes getting together to record their own version at their celebration in Toronto following the London Games (featuring an introduction from Jepsen herself!):

The Canadian Olympic Committee's done a pretty impressive job of putting this together, featuring a wide range of athletes from trampoline gold medalist Rosie MacLennan to the women's soccer team (already known for their singing prowess and love of Canadian content), and there are some funny scenes in there, especially the ones on the train, in the bathroom and the soccer team's pyramid. This will undoubtedly get some attention, and it's nice to see the COC doing some things to recognize athletes even after the Olympic spotlight's ended; it's also tremendous that Paralympic athletes were included here, as they're so often overlooked in the Olympic hype. However, given the sheer amount of Call Me Maybe parodies out there, they're starting to create a little fatigue. Given our taste for hoserism, this corner will never object to music videos involving Canadian athletes, but perhaps there's some other Canadian content they could go with next time? There are a few possibilities that come to mind, all of which could produce interesting results. Until then, though, while this video's solid, the best Canadian Olympic video still remains Jon Montgomery's pre-Games inspirational speech:
