What's tougher than hitting a receiver in full flight? Hitting two different receivers in full flight while wearing a blindfold. That's what Calgary Stampeders' quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell does in a video the CFL released this week, though, which shows him throwing passes to Edmonton Eskimos' receiver Adarius Bowman and Toronto Argonauts' receiver Andre Durie without the use of his eyes. Here's the clip of Mitchell's blindfolded passes:

This kind of effort isn't completely new for the CFL, as the league has found success having its players perform some unusual football stunts in the past, from Andy Fantuz's one-hand catch world record earlier this year to Mike Reilly throwing footballs through airbourne tires and Adam Bighill and Paul McCallum demonstrating their soccer skills. This one stacks up with some of those great videos, though, and it's nice to see the CFL continuing with these creative video efforts.  It has Mitchell going full Daredevil, showing he can be effective even without seeing his receivers, and it's yet more proof that he's become one of the league's top QBs and one of its new generation of stars.

Throwing blindfolded passes could even potentially relate to a useful in-game skill as well.  If you don't need to use your eyes to lock in on a receiver, that makes it harder for defensive backs to read where you're throwing. Beyond that, this could give the CFL a new commercial opportunity. "How can you find receivers without seeing where they're running? Bo knows."
