Video: Adam Bighill shows off his soccer and placekicking skills in Reebok shoot
Remember that Reebok photo shoot that produced Mike Reilly's impressive pass through three airbourne tires? Welll, another remarkable video from it has been released, showing Montreal linebacker Marc-Olivier Brouillette and B.C. linebacker Adam Bighill trying something not typically in their job description; kicking field goals. The clip starts with Brouillette attempting a field goal off a tee, but shanking it to the right. Bighill then wanders into the frame juggling a football soccer-style (appropriate, considering we're in the middle of the World Cup) and does something even more impressive:
That's a remarkable volley from Bighill, and one that shows off his athletic versatility. He's been a league all-star for the past two seasons and a key part of B.C.'s linebacking corps, recording 196 tackles and 18 sacks over those two campaigns. With kicks like that, though, Lions' kicker Paul McCallum might want to keep looking over his shoulder. However, the two teamed up for an impressive soccer display at Lions' training camp Wednesday, with Bighill setting up McCallum for a bicycle-kick goal. Go here to see video of that.
While Bighill's soccer skills may seem irrelevant to his ability as a linebacker, they do show off how athletic he is. It is also notable that a drop kick can be attempted at any time by either team under Canadian football rules, so this surprising skill of Bighill's may yet come in handy. More notably, though, these videos are just showing that impressive and funny things can happen when you put top CFL players together. These guys have plenty of athletic talent, and these videos prove they're not afraid to show it off in unusual situations.
