Simoni Lawrence and Chad Owens duel in Battleship in GameTime's first installment (video)

What do CFL players do when they're not playing, practicing, or training? Sometimes, they just hang out and play games, and the league's given us an insight into that world with the debut of a new series called "GameTime." The series features short video clips of Hamilton Tiger-Cats' linebacker Simoni Lawrence playing various games with teammates and rivals and discussing everything pop culture along the way. Here's the first one, posted Thursday, which features Lawrence playing Battleship with Southern Ontario rival Chad Owens, the Toronto Argonauts' star receiver, and talking about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Iggy Azalea versus Nicki Minaj:

That's pretty great, especially the dance party at the end. But who sunk the other's battleship? Bets might be on Owens, given the Argonauts' nautical history, but we may have to wait for Part II (scheduled for a Nov. 18 release) to find out. In the meantime, we'll get to see Lawrence play Jenga with teammate Bryan Hall (Part I debuts Monday, Nov. 10) and Go Fish with Argos' kicker and noted goat enthusiast Swayze Waters (Part I debuts Thursday, Nov. 13). It's cool to see the CFL innovating this way and giving us a behind-the-scenes look at what these guys do when they're not wearing pads and hitting each other on the field. (But hey, how about upgrading to some serious board games, a la Tabletop? I'd give anything to watch these guys take each other on in Power Grid or Agricola.) This should be a fun series to watch.
