A Hoquiam man was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering what police believe to have been a medical emergency while he was a passenger in a vehicle traveling east on State Route 8 in Thurston County on Sunday.

Thurston County coroner Gary Warnock identified the man as 33-year-old Joshua J. Williams of Hoquiam.

According to a news release from Washington State Patrol, Williams was a passenger in the car with two other people when he suffered a medical emergency at 6:42 p.m. Sunday. The driver pulled to the side of the road just west of Summit Lake and called 911.

CPR was administered by medical personnel, but Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
