Pass or Fail: Finland’s flag-o-riffic Sochi Olympic jerseys

It’s the Olympics, so Nike clearly wants to ratchet up the patriotism on their new hockey jerseys. Sometimes that manifests in those clever Slovakia jerseys we brought you on Tuesday, with the national anthem’s lyrics used to create stripes on the design.

And sometimes it means turning the jersey into a giant flag with sleeves. Behold, Finland! The perfect jersey for the blonde, wispy-haired gentleman in your life!

Like Nike’s design for the Czechs

, Team Finland’s “away” sweater is a recreation of the nation’s flag, with two textured stripes accenting the white jersey.

As with the Slovakia sweaters, these are made from 17 recycled plastic bottles. An ode to recycling is obviously very appropriate for a team that should have Olli Jokinen on its roster. When’s his third stint in Calgary start, anyway?

What do you think of the designs? Part of us feels that, once again, Nike is attempting to mess with perfection. And part of us feels like we’re buying a Teemu Selanne Finnish flag jersey right after we complete this post …

What say you?
