North Dakota's Drake Caggiula scores another highlight-reel goal (Video)

North Dakota downed Alabama-Huntsville 4-1 on Saturday night, and afterward all anyone could talk about was senior Drake Caggiula’s highlight-reel shorthanded goal in the second period.

How great was the goal? Even the campus police Tweeted about it:

“It’s a once in a blue moon kind of thing,” Caggiula said, via Tom Miller of the Grand Forks Herald. “Sometimes they go in off your face and sometimes they’re like that, and you don’t complain either way.”

Highlight-reel goals are a pretty common occurrence for Caggiula, who went undrafted and will be a free agent after his season. A YouTube search will bring you a handful of goals that will make you say “wow,” including one from November where he was part of a pretty tic-tac-toe passing play aganist Miami.

Caggiula leads the Fighting Hawks in scoring with 14 goals and 29 points through 21 games as North Dakota holds a three point lead over St. Cloud State for the NCHC lead.
